Selling to the EU from the UK on TikTok Shop: the €3 customs duty and €2 handling fee explained
TikTok Shop guide · October 2026

If you sell from the UK into the EU through TikTok Shop's Sell Across Europe programme, two per-item charges belong in your pricing. TikTok's guide for UK sellers sets out a €3 customs duty and a €2 Union Handling Fee. Here's when they apply and how to price for them.
The short version: for goods worth €150 or less shipped straight from the UK to the EU, TikTok says a flat €3 customs duty applies per item. A €2 Union Handling Fee also applies per item, whatever the value, on top of any VAT and other fees. TikTok tells sellers to take these costs into account when setting prices.
The charges TikTok lists
| Charge | When it applies | Amount |
|---|---|---|
| Customs duty | Goods with an intrinsic value of €150 or less shipped directly from the UK to the EU | €3 flat, per item |
| Union Handling Fee | Regardless of the value of the goods | €2 per item |
| VAT and other fees | In addition to the above, where they apply | Not set out in TikTok's guide |
How the €150 threshold works
- It's based on item value. TikTok says the threshold is based on item value, excluding shipping and VAT.
- Non-euro markets are converted. In markets that don't use the euro, TikTok Shop may convert the item value into euros at the applicable exchange rate to check whether it's under €150.
- Above €150, TikTok's delivery service is out. TikTok says items over €150 (excluding VAT) aren't supported by its Shipped via Platform service, because of customs clearance restrictions. You'd use Shipped by Seller instead, where you manage the whole logistics process, including customs clearance.
A worked example
This is our own illustration, using the per-item figures in TikTok's guide. A shopper in Germany orders three different products from your UK warehouse, each worth €20.
| Charge | Per item | For three items |
|---|---|---|
| Customs duty | €3 | €9 |
| Union Handling Fee | €2 | €6 |
| Total before VAT and other fees | €5 | €15 |
On a €20 item, that's a quarter of the price before VAT, which is why low-priced products need the most thought.
Setting your EU prices
When you sync products from your UK shop to a European shop, TikTok gives you these pricing options:
- Same price or a new one. Keep the price from your UK shop, or set a different price for each market. Prices for SKUs locked into a promotional campaign can't be changed.
- Exchange rate. Use a real-time exchange rate, so prices are worked out at the time of purchase, or a fixed rate based on the exchange rate when the product is synced.
- A final check. Before you submit the sync, TikTok shows the converted prices for the target market alongside the terms and conditions.
Getting paid
TikTok says your European shop may settle in supported EU currencies such as EUR, PLN, HUF or CZK, and your payout currency depends on the bank account you link. You can use a UK bank account: if it only supports GBP, payouts are converted automatically. If any required tax information is missing, out of date or fails verification, TikTok says payouts from your European shop may be restricted until it's fixed.
Our advice
- Price each market, don't just convert. For items worth €150 or less, work the €5 per item into your margin before you sync, and set a separate price where you need to.
- Look hardest at your cheapest products. The charges are flat, so they take a bigger share of a low price. Some products may not be worth selling into the EU at all.
- Watch anything with an item value near €150. The threshold excludes shipping and VAT. Above it, Shipped via Platform isn't available and you'd handle shipping and customs yourself.
- Get your tax details right first. TikTok calls its tax information general guidance and recommends a qualified tax advisor. Missing or outdated tax details can hold up your payouts.
